Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington
BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Do you enjoy giving back to your community? What if you could give back and have fun while doing it? At Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, we are looking for volunteers who are eager to make a difference by connecting with youth of all ages.
Whether you are helping with homework, mentoring, or supporting in one of our engaging program areas, your involvement will contribute to a positive experience for the youth we serve!
Food Distribution
2 month commitment/1 hour per week
Food Bank Drivers: Responsible for picking up orders from Clark County Food Bank and delivering them to Clubs. Ideally, this volunteer has a larger vehicle to decrease the amount of trips needed to transport the orders.
Food Pantry Volunteer
Facilitate the distribution of resources to families who come to pick up their needs. Volunteers will work with youth from Club to assist visitors with gathering and bringing food and other household items to load and transport home.
Food Supply Volunteer
Organize and take inventory of the resources that BGCSW receives from the Clark County Food Bank once a week. This could consist of splitting food up by Club site, creating and printing “shopping lists” for the pantries, and keeping track of items that may be in short supply.
Mentors
9 month commitment/1 hour per week
Volunteer mentors are paired with a Club member to meet on a weekly basis to encourage and support them, and provide them with a positive role model. Activities during the mentoring session will differ depending upon both the member and the mentor.
Tutors
6 month commitment/1 hour per week
Tutors are assigned to members in need of additional educational guidance. This could include homework help, studying for upcoming tests, or guiding a youth through a subject or assignment that they are struggling with.
Bookworm Buddies
3 month commitment/1 hour per week
Bookworm Buddies provide a literacy experience to encourage youth’s interests in books and reading. Volunteers work 1 on 1 with an assigned member weekly to achieve reading goals.
Program Volunteers
3 month commitment/1 hour per week
Program Volunteers support staff, youth, and areas on a weekly basis. The program areas include: Art Room, Learning Center, Game Room, Sports & Fitness, and Technology Lab.
College & Career Prep Guest Speakers
1 time commitment/1 hour
Our College and Career Prep program for teens in grades 8-12 needs volunteer guest speakers from different fields, education levels, and backgrounds to highlight post-high school opportunities, and the path needed to get there. Guest speakers are only required to come 1 time for 1 hour, but there are opportunities for more engagement depending on interest.
Ready to get started? Complete the volunteer application below, and our People Specialist will reach out with instructions on how to complete the mandatory abuse prevention training and register for an upcoming volunteer orientation. After completing your application, annual abuse prevention training, and orientation, you’ll be ready to connect with a Club where your contributions will be valued.
