The Opportunity

As a Financial Aid Counselor, you have the opportunity to help current and prospective students and their families navigate complex financial aid, which includes federal and state funding as well as campus scholarships and waivers. You will also coordinate awarding campus scholarships to students and plan events to raise awareness of financial aid for incoming students.
 
Percentage Breakdown of Job Functions:
50%       Student Recruitment and Retention
20%        Scholarship Promotion and Processing
25%        Prospective Student Financial Aid Events
5%          Other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position.  This position is overtime eligible.

This position works on-site on the WSU Vancouver campus. The position will be primarily on-campus with some remote work opportunities after 6 months; remote work may also be available during breaks when students are not present.
 
Monthly Salary: $4,051 - $ 4,940 | Grade 3 Zone 3 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a college or university setting working with Title IV funding processes.
  • Knowledge of student information systems.
  • Developed written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • PeopleSoft experience.
  • Spanish speaker.
