Description
Brenda J. Child, head of the Department of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota and member of the Red Lake Ojibwe, will speak. Child is an internationally known scholar of the Native American experience, especially in regard to Indian education and policy. Following her lecture, Child will join a panel of academic experts including Robbie Paul, Nez Perce/WSU Pullman, and Jeff Ostler, University of Oregon, in a discussion of the impact of the boarding schools on Native American individuals, families and tribes through the lens of history, federal Indian policy, health and education. This is one part of a two-part symposium. The other event is offered March 31.
