Date and Time
Wednesday Sep 29, 2010 Wednesday Dec 15, 2010
Description
Wayne Chin, one of Southwest Washington's most accomplished painters, is exhibiting large oil paintings at Washington State University Vancouver in the Engineering and Life Sciences building gallery through Dec. 15. The exhibit features realistic depictions of everyday scenes and images from Vancouver and Portland. Chin works from his studio in Vancouver. He photographs his subjects first, then does both black-and-white and color thumbnail sketches before putting brush to canvas. The son of a movie poster painter in China, Chin knew his destiny was to be an artist. Chin has more than 25 years of experience in fine art, including oil painting portraits and landscapes, sculpture, advertising and graphic art. Chin's experience as a professional illustrator for architecture and graphic design lends precision and accuracy to his work. Chin's expression techniques range from fluid, conceptual sketches to crisp, formal renderings. He works in a variety of media such as pen and ink, colored pencil, marker, egg tempera and water color. To see Chin's work and learn more, visit www.waynechin.com . WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
