The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with our sponsors are pleased to present our next Women in Leadership Lecture, Afternoon Tea. This series of events focuses on the female leadership in Clark County and beyond, with the goal of creating a space to cultivate and celebrate the leadership qualities of professional women committed to excellence, collaboration, and tenacity.
 
Event Overview and Timeline:

On July 24th, 2018 we will welcome guests to a 3:00 p.m. social hour to kick off a garden tea party at Shorty's Garden Center. Please fill a purse with and bring donations of unopened boxes or bags of feminine hygiene products to benefit Every28Days and Share.
 
At 4:00 p.m., guests will  enjoy a full afternoon tea service with specialty foods from Simply Thyme Catering and a mix of hand crafted tea prepared by Jennifer Peterson, a certified tea specialist.
 
During the tea, our emcee Lisa Schauer of PointNorth will welcome guests and introduce our host, Lee Rafferty. Lee will moderate between our two featured speakers, who will share their leadership experiences within seven focus areas: upbringing, education, challenges and adversity, career pathways, mentorship, passions, and life-balance. Our speakers, host, emcee, and sponsors exemplify the saying, "When there's a WILL, there's a way."
 
Following the afternoon tea will be a VIP reception (including a beverage) at 5:00 p.m.  for an opportunity to connect with speakers and attendees.

Introducing Our Speakers:

Angela Dowling
President, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, and Chief Revenue Officer
 
Over the course of her career, Angela Dowling has designed and implemented creative solutions that align business strategies with consumers’ health needs. As chief revenue officer, Angela drives revenue strategies across brands, products and markets by bringing greater integration and accountability and directing the organization to create better health care experiences for consumers.
 
Angela’s leadership has helped position Regence as a trusted advisor to many of Oregon’s most respected companies at a time when sound strategic health care decisions are more critical than ever. In her role as Oregon market president, Angela directs and guides the overall performance of the Oregon health plan, including sales, provider contracting, government affairs and community relations.
 
Prior to coming to Regence in 2012, Angela served at Payne Financial Group, Inc. for 10 years, most notably as chief revenue officer. Ms. Dowling also served in national account sales at United Health Care in New York City, as the business development officer at Hewitt Associates in New York City, and as market vice president at Aetna Health Plans in Philadelphia.
 
A scholarship athlete in college, Angela received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. She is a member of several industry organizations, including the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and serves on the Oregon Healthcare Leadership Council.
 
 
Dr. Dene Grigar
Professor and Director of The Creative Media and Digital Culture Program at Washington State University Vancouver
 
Dene Grigar is Professor and Director of The Creative Media & Digital Culture Program at Washington State University Vancouver. She has authored four books and over 50 articles about digital media and has created 14 media works shown international and national festivals and developed locally for SWWA organizations. She has also curated exhibits of media art, mounting shows at the Library of Congress and for the International Symposium on Electronic Art and the Modern Language Association, among other venues.
 
She has been awarded grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council in support of her many projects. She was the 2015 recipient of the Real Hero Honoree For Exemplary Service to Education and is President of the Electronic Literature Organization, an international professional organization with membership on six continents.
