Nick Allard, KGW morning meteorologist and WSU alumni ('03), will emcee the second annual Cougar Community Run at 9 a.m. April 23 at Washington State University Vancouver. Registration is $15 for students, $20 for alumni and $25 for non-students. Kids 12-years-old and younger run for free. Register for the event at www.vancouver.wsu.edu/cc5k. Proceeds benefit the Student Leadership Award. Choose from a timed 5K race or a one-mile paved walk for families with young children, strollers, wheelchairs or walkers. The 5K is a challenging cross-country course. Due to the variety of terrain, no wheelchairs or strollers will be allowed on the 5K race course. Along with the race chips, each participant will receive a t-shirt and gift bag. Finish line photos will be taken. WSU's mascot, Butch T Cougar, will congratulate participants as they cross the finish line and make himself available for photos. An awards ceremony including healthy snacks and prizes will immediately follow the race. After the ceremony, participants are invited to Dodge City Bar and Grill for a rehydration party. The famous Cougar Gold burger will be served as well as special drink and race-day food prices. The Cougar Community Run is sponsored by Legacy Salmon Creek, Signs and More and Take 5 Photography. WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Parking is free.
