Description
Workshop Overview:
An engaged board of directors is essential to nonprofit success, whether you’re building a new board or strengthening an existing one. This Nonprofit POD workshop, presented by Umpqua Bank and led by Andrea Bruno, President of the Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW), is designed to support nonprofit leaders at every stage of board development, from recruitment and onboarding to sustaining long-term engagement.
Andrea joined HSSW in 2020 and has successfully led the organization through the pandemic, expanding services for pets and people in the community. Under her leadership, HSSW has continued its mission to rescue, return, restore, rehome, and reconnect animals, while also launching innovative community initiatives like the Sandra Richardson Miller Mobile Veterinary Clinic.
Join us for an interactive session where we’ll cover:
• Strategies for recruiting diverse and committed board members
• Best practices for onboarding new board members effectively
• Clarifying roles, responsibilities, and expectations for board members
• Engagement strategies to maintain long-term board involvement and commitment
The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion featuring current board members who will share insights from their perspective, highlighting what makes for an effective and fulfilling board experience. Walk away with practical strategies to build and sustain a board that actively supports your mission.
