Description
Workshop #8
IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU
Instructor: Lisa Keohokalole Schauer, PointNorth Consulting, Inc.
Description: Here's a question you probably don't want to ask yourself: are you the problem here? Remember, everyone's the hero of their own story, and everyone believes they're the party in the right. Your manager or colleague is no different. Step back for a moment and ask yourself if you're contributing to a poor relationship.
Bio: Lisa Schauer envisioned a life in politics believing elected office was the primary way to serve her community. She has learned there are many ways to serve as an effective community leader. Lisa has worked in government, private industry and not-for-profit organizations.
Lisa was recruited to join the management team of a regional engineering and construction management firm to launch a business development and marketing program with an emphasis on local government sales. Lisa was asked to join the partnership group where she possessed over 20% ownership, was the first female Partner and the first female Board Director. During her tenure, Lisa contributed to tripling the staff size (50-160 employees) and revenue ($5M – $18M). Lisa held roles as Vice President, Business Development; Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer before she left the company to re-launch PointNorth with her husband, Al.

About the 2019 Fall Workshop Series "FOSTERING GROWTH IN THE WORKPLACE"
Most people recognize that employees are a company’s greatest asset. Their skills and motivation have a profound impact on our bottom line, yet according to a recent Gallup Poll only 30% of all U.S. workers are engaged in their positions. Even more alarming is the strikingly low percentage -- just 35% -- of U.S. managers themselves are engaged, while 51% are not engaged and 14% are actively disengaged.
What does this mean? This means there is an opportunity for every employee, supervisor, solopreneur, and leader to learn necessary skills that can foster growth and create engagement in the workplace.
If you are seeking ways to develop your employees/key leaders, grow revenues, improve your processes or increase your customer satisfaction and retention, you’ve come to the right place.
GVCC members have access to a series of workshops intended to provide skills and insight into the challenge’s businesses face today. Each workshop is designed to deliver information succinctly, with practical examples and an abundance of discussion.
