FIVE STEPS TO WRITING AN EFFECTIVE PRESS RELEASE
Presented by Julia Maglione, Workforce SW WA
Class Description: Writing a press release for the first time can seem daunting. This workshop will help you understand the language and journalistic style used by reporters. Among the things you’ll learn: the proper format for writing a release, key information that must be included in every press release and how to get your press release to reporters.

About the Presenter: Julia Maglione is the Communications Manager at Workforce Southwest Washington. She is responsible for media relations, communications, the organization’s website, social media, development of printed materials, special events planning and collaborating with partners across the region to inform businesses and individuals of employment and job training opportunities. Maglione has more than 20 years of media and public relations experience, including positions with a local marketing communications firm and in Clark College’s Economic & Community Development department. Maglione graduated from California State University Northridge with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations. She has served on the board of the East Vancouver Business Association and been a member of the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Women Entrepreneurs Organization (WEO), the Giving Circle of Clark County and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
