COMMUNICATING WITH THE MEDIA
Presented by Nelson Holmberg, VP of Innovation at the Port of Ridgefield
Class Description: Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to learn from one of our region's best media relations professionals. Nelson Holmberg, the Port of Ridgefield's VP of Innovation will share a number of successful techniques to help you better communicate with our local media outlets. While there are methods and best practices to media relations, there is also a value in thinking out-of-the-box. Attendees will learn when, how, and why to communicate with the media in this workshop.

About the Presenter:
The Port of Ridgefield’s Vice President of Innovation Nelson Holmberg started his career as a part-time sports writer at The Columbian before deciding in 1993 that it was time to shift to media relations. More than two decades later, the graduate of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University has extensive public and media relations experience in both the private and public sectors. His work includes stops with Major League Baseball for the inaugural World Baseball Classic, college and professional sports, the public power industry, the Port of Vancouver USA, BergerABAM, Koopman Ostbo Integrated Communication, and ran his own firm for six years.
