Description: Working toward equity and inclusion requires we work in true partnership with individuals who are different than ourselves. To work in a true partnership, though, we must first learn to listen to, and learn from, the perspectives of others. This session supports participants in learning skills that are foundational to engaging in dialogue across difference, ultimately supporting us in working toward a more inclusive workplace.

Bio: Marcus Carter is a Talent Partner, Equity Consultant, and Community Advocate building diverse ecosystems within the innovation economy.

About the 2019 Fall Workshop Series "FOSTERING GROWTH IN THE WORKPLACE"

Most people recognize that employees are a company’s greatest asset. Their skills and motivation have a profound impact on our bottom line, yet according to a recent Gallup Poll only 30% of all U.S. workers are engaged in their positions. Even more alarming is the strikingly low percentage -- just 35% -- of U.S. managers themselves are engaged, while 51% are not engaged and 14% are actively disengaged.  
 
What does this mean? This means there is an opportunity for every employee, supervisor, solopreneur, and leader to learn necessary skills that can foster growth and create engagement in the workplace.
