"This is Out of Bounds!"

Our good friend Guy Fieri of the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives said it well, and does it ever describe the Savor The Couve series, sponsored by ilani! Running since the first Thursday in December, Savor The Couve brings together five different restaurants to provide 100, 5-course dinners for two, for only $100, where 25% of each order goes to support a local nonprofit organization. Along with Visit Vancouver USA, we at the Greater Vancouver Chamber have been bringing this all together for a Thursday night takeout dinner experience like no other in the country...well, as far as we can tell. These first eight weeks have proven so popular that we expect to send you all an exciting announcement come next Tuesday. Stay up to date by checking out our webpage at VancouverUSA.com/SavorTheCouve and sign up for exclusive email updates at VancouverUSA.com/STCEmail.

How many of you received gift cards during the holidays? Well tomorrow, Saturday, January 16 is National Spend Your Gift Card Day. Isn’t it something that we actually need a day set aside to spend our gift cards? Hopefully, you are already aware that Clark County – you know the ol' (360) – has its own gift card (of sorts.) Supporting shopping locally, the Greater Vancouver Chamber introduced last year the Grow The (360) program. It features dozens of local businesses in a variety of retail and service areas, from bakeries to boutiques! As an employer you can buy and gift them to employees, client, or vendors, and as a shopper you can visit the website and buy them directly for yourself. By using Grow The (360) certificates, you let the merchants involved know that you support shopping local. And, if you already have a Growth The (360) certificate then tomorrow will be the perfect day to spend it. Learn more at VancouverUSA.com/GrowThe360.

While preparing for the three-day weekend, Monday celebrating the life and leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, let's remember what Dr. King once said as we cope with
the stress caused by the disturbances last week: "Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the [individual] who wields it. It is a sword that heals.
