About Us
Urban Abundance is a nonprofit organization based in Vancouver, Washington, dedicated to fostering community engagement through the creation, maintenance, and harvest of accessible edible landscapes. Founded in 2010, the organization has evolved into a vital part of Clark County's local food system, promoting food sovereignty and resilience.
The organization's mission is to engage neighbors in the creation, maintenance, and harvest of edible landscapes that are accessible to everyone.
Urban Abundance offers several programs to support its mission:
+Harvest Local Fruit Trees: Volunteers can sign up to harvest, share, and donate fruit from publicly owned and backyard orchards, reducing food waste and providing fresh produce to those in need.
+Host a Resiliency Garden: Individuals can build publicly accessible foodscapes in their front yards, with Urban Abundance supplying plant starts, garden tools, topsoil/compost, signage, and resources.
+Register Your Tree: Property owners with surplus fruit
In 2024, Urban Abundance collected and donated 4,519 pounds of produce through 16 gleaning events, demonstrating its significant impact on local food security.
Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Urban Abundance relies on community involvement and donations to expand its programs and reach. The organization welcomes new board members, volunteers, and partners who resonate with its mission and vision.
