Session 1 from 9am-Noon: Certifications for Veteran Owned Small Businesses

Session 2 from 1-3pm: Leveraging your Veteran Status in the Federal Government Marketplace.
http://washingtonptac.ecenterdirect.com/ConferenceDetail.action?ID=7122
Session 1: Learn how to register as a veteran owned small business with Washington State, self-certify with most federal agencies, and become a verified veteran or service disabled veteran owned small business with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE).
VA CVE verification is required to leverage Veteran owned status with the VA and FAA and anticipated to be required federal government wide in the near future. The VA CVE portion of the session will cover eligibility requirements, verification process, common reasons for denial, post verification audits, and re-verification. Follow-up assistance is available at no cost through Washington PTAC.
Session 2: Your veteran owned status matters in the world of federal procurement!
- The federal government has a goal to award 3% of all federal contracts to service disabled veteran owned businesses
- Federal agencies have the ability to set opportunities aside so that only qualified SDVOSB firms can compete
- The VA’s Vets First program gives preference to veteran and service disabled veteran owned firms and can set opportunities aside for both VOSBs and SDVOSBs
- Large prime contractors are frequently required to utilize VOSB or SDVOSB subcontractors
